I am an independent teacher, academic coach, and mentor with 28 years of experience working directly with middle school, high school, and college students as a tutor, classroom teacher, and school administrator. I’m based in Berkeley, CA and available in person in the near East Bay and virtually on Zoom.
I was born and raised in Missouri, but the San Francisco Bay Area has been my home for more than 30 years. I have degrees in English and Romance Languages and professional training and interest in equity grading, Universal Design for Learning, and educational leadership, and I volunteer as a college essay coach for the Matchlighters Scholars Program. In addition to teaching and learning, my interests include bass guitar (I’m a beginner!), re-learning how to sew, cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals and the Golden State Warriors and Valkyries, cooking and eating delicious food, and hanging out with my long-haired Chihuahua mix, Roxie. And, in summer 2025 I took Khan Academy’s AP Statistics course (ask me why!)
