Laura provided excellent academic tutoring as well, but I’m especially grateful to her for the insightful, thoughtful and accepting way she coached, mentored and cheered on my son. She still reaches out to see how he is doing and it’s wonderful to celebrate his successes with her. She genuinely cares.
Laura has a lot of experience working with bright kids who learn differently and/or are challenged with executive function issues. She also communicates well with parents and is a wealth of information about academic paths and resources. Highly recommend her, especially for teens and young adults.
Laura put our daughter immediately at ease. She had been struggling with her English work, especially essay writing, and it had impacted her confidence. We can see how bright she is, but she could not. Over the course of their first year of working together, not only did her work get much better, but her confidence soared, which was such a relief to see. Laura also suggested a neuropsychological assessment, which revealed a series of learning differences that had never been detected before. This has allowed her to create much more effective learning strategies and to ask for meaningful accommodations at school. Together, all of this means she is entering high school feeling confident that she can thrive. We are so happy for her and grateful for Laura!
Writing expectations for our first-year high school student were a big step up from what she was used to in middle school. She got behind and didn't ask for help until things were at a crisis point. Laura was amazing at helping her get organized and on task to get the work done. She did this while keeping our daughter engaged and interested and without escalating any stress about the looming deadlines. Laura is truly gifted at working with kids with learning differences. And I'd recommend her to anyone whose kids are feeling stuck.
